Ballet:
(Beginner thru Advanced levels- 1A-5B) Ballet will be offered to all levels. Ballet is the fundamental building block of dance education. Each class will consist of traditional ballet barre, warm up and exercises, adagio, petite allegro, progressions, and will end with a progressive combination of skills learned in class. Each dancer will be promoted based upon mastery of skills.
ATTIRE:
Leotard/Tights
All ballet classes will wear a traditional Black Camisole Leotard, Capezio ballet pink convertible/Transition tights and pink leather split sole ballet shoe.
We do not have preference on the brand of the leotard but it must be a camisole sleeve. No sports bras may be visible nor can any extra clothing/skirts be worn under or over these leotards. Hair should be neatly secured in a bun for every class. Professionalism and uniformity are important to the structure of your dancers ballet class. If your dancer needs to wear undergarments underneath their leotard for support, the may do so, but there should be NO SPORTS BRAS etc visible.
TAP:
Tap is introduced in our Preschool Twirl Tap Tumble class as well as our Combination Classes. We offer tap classes in Recreational levels 1,2 and 3. All tap classes will focus on the development of rhythm and coordination. Each dancer will focus on the clarity of sounds through the incorporation of a warm-up with rhythm sequences. Dancers will learn tap technique and style in their level of tap.
ATTIRE:
Your dancer should wear fitted clothing for every class. They must wear lycra/spandex dance shorts or leggings (must be dance leggings, not cotton blend you find in the clothing section at your local store) and any style fitted leotard, crop top or half top. Tap shoes (matte black not patent) should be black lace up shoes.
Tap Technique: This is a 30 minute tap technique block for dancers interested in beginning tap, or brushing up on their skills. This class does not have a costume or a dance in the recital.
Tap 2 and Tap 3: Require teacher approval, and previous tap levels completed.
JAZZ:
These classes consist of traditional jazz elements. Each class will begin with a jazz warm up. For the beginner levels of Jazz, dancers will be introduced to basic ballet principles and jazz fundamentals. All intermediate and Advanced levels will incorporate ballet and modern technique so as to advance skill level. Ballet is recommended as an accompaniment to upper level jazz classes. Each level will utilize across-the-floor combinations to work on leaps, turns, and various styles of jazz.

Lyrical:
This class consists of expressive movement that blends modern, ballet, jazz and lyrical dance techniques to create new lines that convey emotions. Each individual will be encouraged to engage themselves and others in different interpretations of movement through the use of various styles of music.

MUSICAL THEATER:
Musical Theater blends jazz technique and Broadway performance skills! Your dancer will work on creating characters, and acting through dancing!

POM/Jazz:
This class blends basic jazz technique, beginner tumbling skills, and POM technique. Dancers will use pom poms during class.

HIP HOP:
These classes will include a progressive warm-up and instruction in basic hip hop technique. Hip-Hop is a form of musical expression with freestyle form of street dance. The class will be set in an interactive, fun, and fast paced environment.
ATTIRE:
Any style dance bottom (fitted dance shorts, harem pants, leggings) and a fitted top/tank top are suitable for hip hop.
Please make sure your dancer designates a pair of shoes to wear to this class with non-marking soles, that they only wear to this class. If they wear the tennis shoes they normally wear to school on our dance floor, they track in mud etc from their day onto the dance floor and this is harmful to our floors. If your child would like to wear a hat/beanie to class, they may do so. Shoe suggestions…Tennis shoes- Converse- Combat boot- High top sneaker
*They will have a specific shoe designated for Recital per class. Please do not purchase any other dance shoes until notified by your child’s specific instructor.
